Sasson Report

Sasson Report
A report prepared by former chief state prosecutor Talia Sasson about the status of settlement outposts. The report, written at the request of the prime minister's office, identified 24 outposts established after March 2001, 71 established before that date, and 10 outposts established at uncertain dates. It generated controversy by documenting the fact that outposts had been created in contravention of the law, often on land of dubious ownership, both before and after the March 2001 cutoff date set by the Roadmap. Most of the facts about the building of the outposts had been widely known for a long time, but this was the first time they had been acknowledged in an official report. A summary of the report was issued on 18 March 2005.
